Hi Beautiful Mess readers! I'm Danielle from Sometimes Sweet. When Elsie asked me to add a fun Halloween "treat" post to helpusher in the possibility of the new RVA shop, I was definitely excited!Growing up, my Mom was very hands-on and we made all sorts of crafts andtreats to keep the autumn holidays. It was difficult to clean just onefrom the huge arsenal of delicious snacks I have had up my sleeve foryears (again, thanks Mom!
, but I thought these spooky cupcakes wouldjust be perfect! A pair of years later I decided to part these treatsI saw a standardized version featured on the Martha Stewart website so Iknew it was meant to be! If my Mom AND Martha approve, they must begood, right? So, here you go- Spooky Witch Cupcakes, straight from my childhoodand perfect for any Halloween celebration! These are great too becausethe decorating is really subject to interpretation, and kids (or grown upkids) will make a big time putting their own creativity into them. What you'll need:chocolate cupcakes (I figured you guys probably already had your own recipe for this so I chose to exclude these initial steps)green icing (you can use store bought or homemade vanilla and add in neon green food colouring to achieve a nice, creepy green) -sugar cones-milk or dark chocolate morsels-candy for decorating: candy corns, Reese's Pieces or M&Ms, black licorice, etc.Once you've baked your cupcakes, you're ready to decorate!
First, melt some coffee in the microwave or on the stove top. Spreadeach cone with the chocolate, and put them in the freezer for about 5minutes to harden up. You can also use chocolate cones, but we'vealways dipped our own. Plus, I recall the chocolate adds some nicetexture.and tastes a lot better!
Next, ice the cupcakes. I used a neon green gel food coloring and hadto add about five little squirts to reach the perfect, creepy color ofwitchy green.
After you ice the cupcakes you can top them with the now hardenedchocolate cone witch hats, and decorate. Growing up we used blacklicorice pull-and-peel licorice for the witch's hair and eyebrows, but Icouldn't detect any so I only went ahead and chopped up regular blacklicorice and used that. Outside of the cupcakes and icing, the photobelow shows all the ingredients I used:
After you finish, you are left with these wonderful wicked witchcupcakes! They're so fun to build and still more fun to eat! HappyHalloween, and happy shop opening Red Velvet! xo. Danielle
